Fundraising

Red Cypher is predominantly funded by the serving Regiment along with the Past and Present Members.

Serving soldiers donate monthly to Red Cypher via a Give as your Earn scheme which is a tax efficient means of donating to charities, so for every £8 donated Red Cypher receives £10.

Many of our veteran also give monthly to Red Cypher using our CAF Donate account which can be used for individual or monthly payments, and Gift Aid is automatically claimed on our behalf where selected.

We have also launched our own society lottery, Red Cypher 100 Club which allows past and present members to donate to the charity you can find out more details on the RC 100 Club page

Both the serving Regiment and Veterans also run a number of events to raise funds for Red Cypher. Some examples are below

The kevin young memorial trophy 2024

Around 60 golfers competed for the Kevin Young Memorial Trophy in aid of both Red Cypher and the Army Benevolent Fund. In total over £2400 was raised during the competition which has been shared equally between the charities.

Last Man Standing football competition

Red Cypher received a donation of £400 from Sammy Ward ex J (Sidi Rezegh) Battery RHA, who along with Brian Pyle ex RAPTC and Bruce Stephenson presented the cheque to our QM Maj PJ Armstrong RHA. The donation was raised through the Last Man Standing football competition that Sammy leads. Huge thanks Sammy, Brian, Bruce and all those that took part in the competition, greatly appreciated, and also to Anna H who donated her winnings of £62.50 to Red Cypher.

Celebration of Remembrance Event 2023

Red Cypher would like to thank all those who attended the Witton Park Village Hall Celebration of Remembrance Event on 11th November 2023. The event raised an amazing £816 for the charity and our special thanks go to PPM Member Andy Bell for organising the event.

Cenotaph lunch 2023

Red Cypher would like to thank all those who took part in the Cenotaph Parade on 12th November 2023. The post parade lunch held at the Clermont Hotel Charing Cross was a chance for old comrades to catch up over lunch and a few drinks. The event raise £730 for Red Cypher on the day and a further pledge of £500.

The Red Cypher 23rd Annual Dinner and Reunion held at The County Hotel Newcastle has raised around £1500 for the charity. We also officially launched our Red Cypher 100 Club Lottery at the event with another £900 pledged.

D Battery Reunion 2023

Veterans of D Battery held their first reunion for a number of years in Chelmsford on 17th June 2023. The event was well supported and a fantastic opportunity to catch up with old friends.

The weather was also excellent and £450 was raised for Red Cypher. Thank you for your support

summer fete 2023

St Andrew's C.E Primary School Heddon-on-the-Wall held a Summer Fete to raise funds for Red Cypher 3rd Regiments Own Charity.

A total of £507.50 was raised in the course of the event.

REgimental Charity Golf Day

Golfers from across the Regiment, with some of our wider Regimental friends took part in our annual Charity Golf Day at Ryton Golf Club. Now in its tenth year, we raised just short of £3000 for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund, RC & HfH (Three Charities that have helped the Regiment on many occasions).

Although the weather wasn't in our favour, the Soldiers and Officers were in great form, the final cartridge case was auctioned off with £1500 pounds going to Red Cypher

In Memory of kevin Young MBE

Red Cypher would like to thank Lorna, her family, friends and comrades of Major (Retired) Kevin Young MBE for their kind donations to the charity in memory of Kevin.

As well as the collection which raised over £680 for Red Cypher, we also received telephone donations from Les and Agnes in Ontario Canada for an additional £425.
